Summer Happenings!

Pastor Curtis driving in the Independence Day Parade

Summer is always a busy time for ministry. Here are some of our highlights as well as some prayer requests for things coming up.

  • Every 4th of July our church, New Hope Baptist, is able to participate in the Gas City parade. This year we handed out a massive amount of candy and 600 frisbees with invitations to our Vacation Bible School. Pray that kiddos will come to our VBS starting July 27th.
  • Rachel has been leading a Women’s Summer Book Club and they are 1/2 way through their book “Think Again: Relief from the burden of Introspection.” The women have had great Biblical discussions on condemnation, doubt, and how to rightly think about ourselves. Pray for the 10 women who have joined this book study. Join me by praying Romans 8:6 for them: “For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”
  • One of the men who has been working with Curtis graduated from his Biblical counseling! He will continue meeting with him for continued discipleship moving forward. Curtis has 1 other man that he is working with. Rachel continues to counsel 3 teenagers and 1 adult. We also began doing marriage counseling with a couple from our church. There is another couple who has requested marriage counseling- but unfortunately we’ve had to place them on a waiting list. (Each counseling case takes 2-3 hours weekly in preparation/meeting so we have to be wise with how many counselees we each take on at any given time.) Please pray for all of our current counselees. Biblical Counseling is quite a bit different from secular counseling and focuses on using God’s word specifically in people’s lives to help them with their areas of suffering and struggles with sin. Pray for teachable hearts that are obedient to God’s word!
  • Noah is busy holding down two jobs (Cracker Barrel, and Lowes) while preparing for University this fall. Praise the Lord that his ministry matching grant of $2,500 for The Master’s University was fully funded for the 25-26 School year! He continues to help out in the Youth Ministry at church during these summer months. We will be heading to CA next month to drop him off on the 8/23.

  • Hannah spent June 4-11th at Christian Youth in Action as an Advanced Summer Missionary. Here she is teaching the Bible Story to all 72 other Indiana students being trained to teach 5 day clubs.
  • This past week Hannah had a 4 day Bible Club in Dublin, IN. It’s 1.5 hours away from where we live. Most of the week she met up with an adult volunteer, Elaine, and hitched a ride. On Tuesday Elaine was unable to take her. Elaine is also one of the puppet masters at the Bible Club. So on Tuesday, Rachel, got to drive her to Bible Club and got to fill in with puppets! It was fun to get to work alongside our daughter at this club. There were 22 kids that day! Hannah taught the Bible story each day and while many kids indicated they responded to the Gospel- only one sat down with Hannah to talk. We know God planted a lot of seeds last week and will continue to bring growth in the kids who responded.
  • Hannah left today (7/6) and is headed to Antigua and Barbuda for a 2 week missions trip. She is part of a team of 12 (7 students, 5 adults). They will be leading a CYIA training and having a 5 day club. Pray for the teams safety and spiritual growth. Thank you to all who have supported her this summer in her summer ministry opportunities!

Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support!

We could not do this ministry without our team members!
