ATUALIDADES*: Workshop & Training Clinic…this week

August 23, 2021

Dear Friends & Family,

“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2

We have been busy recently making further adaptations to how we conduct our ministry and do training in this fear-filled world. Worldwide, there are crises on every hand, and Brazil is no exception, with daily reactions by politicians and the media to the pandemic continuing, the country’s economic woes worsening, politics spilling-over into their Supreme Court (sound familiar?), etc.

But, there is good news, too! This week we are offering both a national workshop and training clinic. Please pray this week for these two events in Brazil that will begin Tuesday evening. Response has been encouraging, and we have 134 registered for the 2-evening workshop and 28 for the training clinic that will run through Saturday. The teaching will originate from Rio de Janeiro. Participation from as far away as the Amazon will be via Zoom. Eight churches are involved.

Update from Nuno and Gila

Dear praying friends,

We hope you are all doing well. We are thankful for your continued prayers and support and with hearts filled with hope and joy as we witness the Lord working. Our friend Dave Zimel went back to the US late July and we headed for a few days away on holiday, and it was a much needed restful time. We hiked a lot, saw beautiful new places and enjoyed spending time together.

Tiana and JJ Mission Newsletter Aug 7 2021

August 7, 2021

Hello everyone!

Sorry that you missed us last week. Due to the third week of camp starting on a Sunday, we had one less day between camps to rest and reach out to our supporters. I knew that would be the case, but I didn’t realize how tired I would be! So, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to send out a newsletter last week, but I am doing it now.

In the last two weeks of camp, JJ and I came alongside a team of young and old believers all with one goal: to see the children and youth attending camp come to a better understanding of Christ in their lives. Our role on this team was to disciple the camp’s upcoming leaders to imitate Christ in their service and love towards others.

We Made it to Oregon

August 3, 2021

Hello Everyone,
Thank you so much for your prayers this past week. We made it safely to Oregon and everything went smoothly. Here is just a sampling of all the praises this past week:

  • We were able to get most of our boxes into the moving truck.
  • We were able to get “everything” into the storage unit in Mainz.
  • We were able to get the apartment cleaned out and gave the keys to the owner.
  • We were able to get all bags packed for our flight to Oregon.
  • We made our connections.
  • No one got sick, and all COVID tests were negative.
  • We made it safely to Oregon with good attitudes.
  • All of our bags (eventually) made it to Oregon.
  • God blessed us with a beautiful place to be for this first month.
  • We have possible options for housing for most of the year (nothing for sure yet).
  • We might have a source for many of our major furniture needs for the year.
  • Our monthly donation pledges will cover the required donations for Heather’s German contract. Thank you if you were one of those people. Please be sure to make sure the payments are set up to go through at the pledged time. This is approximately 10% of our support needed for us to return to Germany.

Moving Days

July 25, 2021

Hello Everyone,

I want to keep this short today. It is 1:20 am and tomorrow (today) we begin the moving process. First of all, praise God for all of the answered prayers, amazing friends, and smooth transition thus far. It has not been easy, but God has sustained us and brought together so many pieces. We had the most amazing send-off (Abschied) from our church family and friends here in Weimar. I cannot possibly mention every amazing farewell, blessing, and well wish. God has also helped us nearly achieve our goal for initial monthly donations. Thank you to everyone who has already said, “Yes we believe in what God is doing through you, and at Black Forest Academy, and we want to be part of your monthly financial support team.” So as you pray for us here are some specific prayer requests and our timeline.

Update from Isabel Fernandes

Sometimes God leads us to people, sometimes He brings them to us. I believe that God brought us Tatiana. She is a young woman who is selling fruit and vegetables at the Market, right beside where I expose my products. For more than once, we have talked about the faith and she is asking many questions and demonstrating interest about the Word. She has told me many things about her personal life and, last Saturday, Tatiana cried when she told me the struggles she was facing. I ask that you help us and that you ask for a miracle for Tatiana, for the enemy has kept her on a path that strays from the purposes of God. When I look at her and my faith shrinks, I remember the words: “Is there anything too difficult for God?”

Update from Nuno and Gila

We had a great time together celebrating our 3rd anniversary. We met at the park, and many joined us. Some friends from Alpha course came and that was really good! Alpha session later that day would be on healing and as Dave Zimel was already with us, he was invited to join and pray for healing for those who wanted. (For those who don’t know Dave, He is a good friend who loves Jesus and who has the gift of evangelism and healing). Testimonies were amazing. Many were healed! And because this was over Zoom, one of the ladies invited Dave and Nuno to go to her home during the week to meet other people and minister to them. All throughout the 13 days Dave was here we witnessed the Holy Spirit moving in amazing ways. People were healed and many came to saving faith in Jesus! We are so thankful and rejoicing with the work the Lord is doing here. Join us in praising Him! And pray for those who came to Jesus, that they keep close to Him, and grow their roots deep. Pray for strength and wisdom for us as we walk with these children of God.

Family Update

Many of you remember that my mom went to be with the Lord on April 24th. Julie and I flew back to check on my dad, connect with him and see how we could assist. Dad is doing really well considering the loss of his bride for 60+ years. He continues to deal with the grief process but is connected well with care givers in the local area as well as several friends that check on him. God is meeting his needs and strengthening him each day. We chat regularly and he is writing letters to family and friends weekly. What a good GOD we have.

The rest of our family are doing well. This August, Lynden turns 1…wow…how did that happen so fast. Garrett will be 14 in October and growing and his brother, Jaxon, will turn 9 in September…WOW…how does this happen as I remain the same age??? LOL!

Adams Summer 2021

July 14, 2021

In Christ’s Love,
Don and Carol Adams

Dear Family and Friends,

We are so excited to be getting back to a “normal” summer schedule of ministry! Last year we were only able to conduct 2 Bible Schools, but this summer there are 6 Bible Schools and 2 weeks of camp on the schedule! Victory Church of God VBS is new this year as well as Tree Top Bible Camp in Missouri. We are really looking forward to seeing what God has in store for the summer. With such a busy schedule – especially in June – it will really be very physically challenging. Please pray for the Lord to give us supernatural strength and energy. As we progress through the year, we pray that the Hispanic labor camps will open up to our usual outreach at the tomato farms in late summer and early fall. We also anticipate the schools opening again to the special programs near holidays. It feels so good to start again with the ministry we have missed during the COVID months. Please pray for these doors to all open once again and for the Lord to open our eyes to see new opportunities for outreach.

Summer is Off and Running

July 14, 2021

News from Bob Carvajal

May is the month where school ends and summer begins. By the 20th, college was over, so rather than have the Collective Bible study, we all went to a Thai restaurant.

That Sunday, on May 23, we recognized our graduates during church. As a special treat, the youth band led worship. Nate, our Youth Minister did a great job. After church, we had a dinner for the graduates and their families.
