It’s Official! Rhoadarmer Update 3/16/21

March 16, 2021

Ministry Update of Curtis and Rachel Rhoadarmer

Thank you for your prayers for passing Phase 2 (the exam phase) towards certification with the ACBC. Rachel passed with flying colors after spending the previous year working on her exams. She has now moved onto Phase 3- the Supervision stage. She began doing Biblical Counseling last week with Amy* and was able to lead Amy to Christ as Savior. She had grown up “believing” but wasn’t sure whether or not she was good enough to be saved. She now understands the grace of God- and the importance of what Jesus did on the cross for her. Rachel will continue to meet with her over the next few weeks to help her with a variety of “problems” in her life to seek answers in God’s word for true and lasting change.

Big Changes for the Overby’s

March 8, 2021

Hello Prayer Team,

We are excited to announce a new direction that we feel God is leading us. After 10 years in Weimar, we are stepping out in faith to pursue work at the Black Forest Academy in Kandern, Germany. This has been a dream of mine (Scott) since 2002 when I served at an English camp at the Black Forest Academy (BFA) with a Good Shepherd short-term team. That summer inspired me to go into teaching with the pursuit of returning to BFA someday. That fall, I even changed my foreign language requirement from first-year Greek to German. Here are some ways that we feel God has uniquely prepared us for this work.

Dear praying friends,

We hope and pray you are all doing well, filled with grace and peace.

As we continue in lockdown, we continue to gather online as church. The Covid numbers are decreasing, praise the Lord, and we hope that by the end of March we are able to resume our gatherings here at home. Please continue praying for all the families in our community, and especially for the ones who live by themselves (Brasilina, also Madalena, who are battling depression).

Overby Odyssey March 2020

February 28, 2021

Hello Family and Friends,

February is behind us and spring is just around the corner. Just like in many places in the USA, we had a pretty substantial snowfall this February with temperatures dipping below 0 Fahrenheit. But that is in the past, the sun is shining, and on March 1 many of our students are heading back to school for the first time since December 15. We want to keep this letter brief today, but we have a couple of big things that we are asking for prayer for this upcoming week.

Update from Nuno and Gila
Portugal

Dear praying friends,

We hope you are all doing well.

We continue in lockdown, and today school starts online. We thank the Lord for His grace that carries us through every season in life. Leonor is very happy to be at home, but Diogo misses his school friends, and some days are just challenging. Keeping the balance between time on screen, family moments, things that need to be done… it’s a full time job! Join us in praying not only for our family, but for all the families in our community, especially those with children. Pray for all the logistics involved with school at home, as well as wisdom for us parents to deal with anxiety and frustration that arise from being stuck at home for so long.

Celebration of God’s Faithfulness

February 6, 2021

It all started in 2014…

Now we celebrate five years!

In 2014, the Lord spoke to me, Jeff, and when seeking Him for what was next in our lives and ministry the Lord gave me one word. “BEAUTIFUL!” As we prayed and sought the Lord, it became evident that He had a plan, vision and desire for us.

Dear praying friends,

We hope this finds you in good health.
Here we are in 2021. A new year, with some new challenges and old ones too. But our trust remains in our beloved Jesus, who said to his disciples to take heart because He had overcome the world, and though we certainly have tribulation, He is our peace.

December 2020

From the notes of Ed and Gerry…

Dear friends and family,

We like to think of the word HOPE. Many things have been stripped away this year but our ultimate HOPE is in a baby that came one night, the birth that we are celebrating this month. How wonderful to celebrate the birth of one that has come for all men….the Lord Jesus Christ.
