March promises spring weather, whether we get it or not. It also gives us Daylight Savings Time whether it saves anything or not.
But this year March gives us Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter. And all three are some of the most important historical events ever recorded. On Palm Sunday Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey which signified a King coming in peace. The people rejoiced, laid palms and even their own clothing on the ground to welcome their King. Jesus had been preaching, healing the sick and raising the dead for three years. Most recently He had called Lazarus from the grave who had been dead four days. His over 30 trillion cells were decaying and stinking. Jesus merely said “Lazarus come forth,” and life instantly returned to every cell in his body. Word spread like wild fire and many had come to see Lazarus. They welcomed Jesus as their King with great excitement! But by Friday they were calling out for His crucifixion at the behest of the religious leaders. What in the world could have happened to change so radically the crowd who cried “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD the King of Israel!;” (John 12: 13) to suddenly call “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!?” (Mt. 27:22-23; Mk. 15:13-14; Lk 23:21; Jn 19:6)
