Olá amigos e família!

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Thank you for all the love and support this year. It has been a full year! Prayerfully stepping into the plans to open a café in Vila do Conde, we are seeing it come to life in ways we never expected! We really see how the Lord is unfolding a beautiful story of connection and community through this place.

It is in the historic old town and geographic center of Vila do Conde. A place we have grow to love more and more. We have met many locals who have become regulars, Christians we didn’t know in the area and, as an unexpected surprise, travellers from all around the world walking the camino way.

Connection | Collaboration | Community

Many stories and moments weave their way through our conversations. One of my favorite things is getting be a part of people meeting each other for the first time and making lifelong connections. We hear languages from Hebrew to Italian to Cantonese and are amazed at how this little place can connect so many!

We’ve shared the love of Jesus by kindness and hospitality.

We’ve given out bibles and and shared bible stories.

We’ve prayed for our customers as we set up in the morning and prayed for one another as we keep moving forward in the everyday moments that we find ourselves in.

Family

This Christmas we are spending as a family. Kai came back to Portugal after this last year living and working in Canada. He’s working at the cafe with us and Beckham has been with us as well as he has needed time and space to get help with his OCD, finding the right doctors and meds. It is a blessing to have them back for a time and we’re soaking it up!

Kevin and I have been working long hours as the cafe had been much busier than we expected (up to 50-60hrs/week) So we are very thankful to announce that we were able to hire Carlos (the pastor from our local church) to work with us full time. He loves the vision of the cafe and, being from this town, really has a heart to reach his community as well. With both Carlos and Kai working we’re able to step back and have some more time to rest and spend time with people.

Thank You!!

Please know that because of your support through prayer, through finances, though donations and through practical help we are able to keep this place open.

Our dream was to hire locals to help run the cafe and if it continues to go well we are looking to hire a new employee by spring. We are also looking at partnering with local charities and people that are helping others in the community (a few ideas are already in the works! Stay tuned!)

As we become more established, our prayer is that we can continue to point to the light and hope of Jesus though simply loving others as he has first loved us.

Merry Christmas and may the God of Hope and Peace be your Anchor!
