Dear Friends and Family,
Greetings from Vila do Conde! We hope this email finds you well. It feels like the past few months have flown by, filled with exciting developments, challenges overcome, and constant reminders of God’s faithfulness. We are so incredibly grateful for your ongoing prayers and support – you truly make this ministry possible.
Our hearts remain passionate about loving Jesus and loving the people of this community, and seeing them come to know Him. The cafe continues to be such a blessing, serving not just coffee, but as a real hub in the historic district where connections are made and lives are touched.
Highlights we wanted to share with you:
New Seeds of Worship & Outreach
We’ve been so encouraged by deepening relationships formed at the cafe. Two sisters from Honduras, who we met through the cafe, have felt led to help us start Sunday evening worship and prayer gatherings right here after hours! We’re thrilled about this organic development and excited to see how God uses this dedicated time of worship.
Additionally, we’re partnering with a small team to begin hosting Alpha groups specifically for pilgrims walking the Caminho de Santiago. What an amazing opportunity to meet people from all over the world on their journey and share the hope of the Gospel!
Growing Our Team & Reach
The cafe is buzzing! We’ve been blessed with increasing numbers of customers, allowing us to build more meaningful connections within the community. To help serve everyone well, we recently hired three wonderful new team members, bringing our total staff to five! We even had our very first official staff team meeting, which was a significant and encouraging step as we build this ministry together.
Navigating Challenges & Experiencing Community
As many of you know, the beginning of the year brought a significant challenge when Kevin contracted a serious lung infection and had to be hospitalized for almost six weeks. It was a difficult time, especially as our ministry partners, the Khans were away visiting family. But we were absolutely humbled and amazed by the way friends and even regular cafe customers rallied around to help keep things running smoothly. It was a beautiful picture of God’s provision through community, and we felt your prayers carrying us through.
Update on Kevin & Looking Ahead
We’re so thankful to report that Kevin is doing much better! While his recovery is ongoing and he still experiences some breathing issues that require monitoring, we are trusting God for continued healing. Thank you, truly, for praying specifically for him.
Looking forward, we’re exploring an exciting potential partnership with another missionary couple from South Africa. We are prayerfully considering the possibility of opening a second location closer to Porto with them. Their vision includes incorporating a dedicated prayer room and co-workspace, which resonates deeply with us. Please join us in praying for wisdom and discernment for both them and us as we explore this partnership in the gospel!
Your Partnership Matters!
We share all this with hearts full of gratitude. Seeing God weave together relationships, open doors for ministry, provide through challenges, and grow our team is incredible. We truly couldn’t do this without your faithful prayers, encouragement, and financial support.
Thank you for standing with us as we seek to share the love of Jesus here in Vila do Conde!
