Cianelli Report July 2024

Summer is coming! It’s amazing how quickly time flies as we draw closer to the coming of our Saviour. It is even more special when we look back and see the gracious hand of God watching over us.

In April this year, Surf Church Porto celebrated its 9th anniversary! Throughout these years, we have been on an incredible journey of studying the Bible chapter by chapter. On April 12, 2015, we opened our Bibles to Matthew chapter 1, and on Sunday, May 26, 2024, we studied Revelation chapter 22, reaching the end of the New Testament! What an amazing achievement! There were 27 books, 260 chapters, 7959 verses and 8 different authors! What an amazing achievement! Glory be to God!

And the achievements just kept on coming! We are thrilled to announce that as a result of the incredible evangelistic work that has taken place here so far, we will have at least 5 new baptisms! Four of these baptisms have no church history, which is truly amazing! And we’ve also had the privilege of serving hundreds of young people through our work with Surf on Sunday afternoons over these months. And many of them have joined a church for the first time in their lives – it’s been incredible to see! I’d like to share the incredible testimony of a girl from Turkey who had the amazing opportunity to open a Bible for the first time. God is so good!

We would like to end by thanking God for a few more amazing achievements! In June, we made a significant expansion to our space, opening a brand new support house! This will be used to house our trainees, missionaries and friends. We are thrilled to announce the arrival of a new missionary family who will be serving Surf Church Porto! In short, there are so many reasons to celebrate!

We’ve faced challenges along the way, but we’ve also achieved so much! None of this would be possible without the Lord’s powerful hand, our amazing partnerships, each member of this Surf Church family, and of course, a lot of persistence and resilience. Thank you, God!

Prayer request:

  • We thank God for his rich blessings and infinite faithfulness;
  • We thank God for each of the conquests and victories he has given us;
  • We thank God for the lives of every partner we have in this ministry;
  • We ask for prayers that this summer will bring even more victories, especially for the newly baptized;
  • We ask for prayer that the Lord will continue to sustain us and give us strength to continue His work in Portugal and Porto;
  • We ask for special prayer for the continued expansion of God’s Kingdom and the preaching of His Gospel through Surf Church.
