For many years Mike and Mary Pinkerton served as Area Missionaries and Regional Director with American Missionary Fellowship (AMF). April and I had the privilege of serving with Mike and Mary in the Regional Director Position.
Mike and Mary met Voltaire Cacal at the FullSpectrum (Ethnic America Network) ministry conference meetings they were both attending. They began to dream about a mission serving people groups within the U.S. and beyond its borders. Be One Together was born.
April and I joined Be One Together in 2017 after returning to the nursing home ministry. Reconnecting with Mike and Mary was a real blessing and serving with a mission organization that had the same leadership philosophy as we did was also a real blessing. Their visits were a special treat. April suffered from a number of health issues but she was still loved and
appreciated in B1-2G.
In 2020 the COVID-19 crisis hit. April and I became infected. April passed away in the hospital. COVID had everything shut down including the Funeral Home. The funeral was limited to a graveside service. Mike traveled from Georgia to Wyoming to lead the service. I spoke at April’s service too but having Mike there was such a tremendous comfort and strength. I am not sure I could have done it without him. It is such a blessing to be in a mission organization where the leadership does everything they can to meet the needs of their missionaries.
Conferences have also been a great blessing as we have been able to get to know fellow missionaries and Ministry Center staff. It makes prayer for each other more meaningful and caring.
